Phonebloks – Introducing Modular Smartphones

Phonebloks - Modular PhonesWe all love our smartphones, but sadly, they will break down at some point.

Usually, the battery is the one that goes first, but that’s not really a problem since it can be changed easily. When a phone breaks however, we tend to throw it away and get another one. Little do we know is that usually just one piece of the phone gives away. Whether it’s a faulty contact or a burnt processor, we don’t bother repairing them.

Well, that can be a thing of the past with Phonebloks.

This is a revolutionary concept that could get rid of waste produced by faulty phones and redundant smartphones that are too old. With Phonebloks you will be able to swap any of the phone’s elements for working ones when they break down or for newer ones when new technologies are available.

While the feedback for this concept is generally positive, there are people who do not see the benefits. Sadly, their arguments are usually trivial. People mostly picked on the design of the phone, which they say is boring. I find that hilarious when I look at the other brands of smartphones that all look the same.

Other people were claiming that it would get too heavy. Again, look at the other smartphones out there.

When you draw a line, you can see how this concept can change our view on smartphones and help reduce electronic waste.

I ponder though, how will the big brands react to this phone once it poses a threat for them?

Please take a moment and share your thoughts in the comments below. Also, if you want to support this concept, head over to http://www.phonebloks.com/.
